ITALY - UK PARTNERSHIP

IN FOCUS | 21 www.italchamind.eu Inventya Supporting bright sparks in the energy sector I nvestments in the energy and environment sectors in the North West of England reflect the growing trend of companies that develop eco-friendly policies. A large number of companies make use of innovative technological processes in order to decrease the emission levels of their operations systems. Recently, the British Government has been widely supporting these activities, facilitating the business development of this type of initiatives. Companies like Inventya – a benefactor member of the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the UK (ICCIUK) – help global businesses achieve their goals focusing on the energy sector. In 2008, Aldo De Leonibus co- founded Inventya, an innovation management consultancy based in Birchwood and with close business links to the Manchester branch of the ICCIUK. To this date, the company has supported the commercialisation of hundreds of products and services, many with beneficial effects from both an environmental and societal perspective. Inventya worked on over 500 projects and was involved in raising over £140m for its clients, who come from a broad range of sectors including artificial intelligence, bioscience, energy, engineering, food security, manufacturing, medicine, remote monitoring, and food security initiatives. INVENTYA’S CASE STUDIES Among the innovative businesses that were supported by Inventya in their development is a project focused on the effects of gravity on materials aimed at capturing energy for electricity generation. Another important product developed by one of Inventya’s clients is an additive for central heating systems that significantly reduces the use of energy. In this case, Inventya provided internationalisation support by helping them identify distributors and agents in Europe and North America. There is also a company that developed a new cold wrap technology for fast-moving consumer goods. Their system uses 90% less energy and 70% less plastic film compared to traditional wrapping systems. This product developed an innovative, energy saving and environmentally friendly process that can produce a consistent reduction of the negative effects on the environment. Inventya supported this business in getting grant funds to build a digital twin in order to adapt their technology before building their unique wrapping system that is now in high demand. They have recently secured £1.3m in an investment round and are looking to double their workforce. Inventya’s clients also include a large number of innovative businesses who need help to accelerate their growth. Working across sectors is one of Inventya’s selling points that is competitive in understanding innovation and SMEs. Furthermore, the company provides funding and financial services, including bid writing, finance for growth, grant funding, R&D Tax credits and Patent Box. The ICCIUK member has a consultancy team that works on market research, business planning and IP landscape. The company is also a service partner for Enterprise Europe Network, which provides support on fully funded pathways such as Innovate2Succeed (I2S) and the Scaleup Programme. The range of services offered can apply to any innovative business in any sector able to input innovation, growth and improvement to the energy and environmental sector in the North West. ·
