PARTNERSHIP | Autumn 2019 02 | THE PRESIDENT’S PERCEPTION Dear readers, I would like to refer to my first contribution to the magazine as “The President’s Welcome”. It is an honour for me to take over the Presidency, and I do so with a very clear and optimistic vision for the future of the Chamber. Through reform and renewed focus, I am committed to helping existing businesses to grow and stay in the UK, and to create a hub of support and guidance for start-ups. My aim is for the Chamber to have a greater voice in the business community and to forge an even stronger partnership between the two. Furthermore, we will continue to build upon the already excellent relationship of dialogue and mutual respect that exists between Italy and the UK, to further the interests of business. We are facing challenging and uncertain times as we approach the UK’s withdrawal from the European Union. Undoubtedly, Brexit is causing a palpable wave of insecurity and confusion to sweep across the business community. I am committed that the Chamber will keep an ear to the ground to both the political developments as they occur, and to the concerns of our members throughout this transition, so that together we can identify the areas in which the Chamber can offer support in practical and pragmatic ways. I sincerely hope that I can count on your support as we embark on this exciting journey, as a new political and economic landscape in Europe emerges. With numerous incentives in the pipeline, my pledge is that the Chamber will strive forward to promote a diverse and vibrant environment from which the businesses who place their trust in us can develop fruitful relationships within the business community across the UK and beyond. In the coming months, I very much look forward to personally meeting many of our existing and new members. Thank you and welcome on board!
