Italy-UK Partnership

LIFESTYLE | 17 www.italchamind.eu Osteria Romana, the Italian spot in Knightsbridge The pioneer restaurant in an Osterias’ project in London O steria Romana opened its doors in October 2017 thanks to Andrea Reitano, entrepreneur and founder of the restaurant. His project consisted in bringing the Roman authentic cuisine and traditions to cosmopolitan London, by creating a tiny and cosy place where customers could relax and enjoy excellent food in an authentic atmosphere. Being raised in Rome, Mr Reitano understood and loved the typical Roman habit of meeting out and spending time in an osteria, a place where traditional cuisine attracts people from the most diverse social backgrounds. Osterie survived through the centuries, they date back to the Middle Age, and arrived in our days bringing their charming atmosphere. Osteria Romana is, in a few words, a little piece of the Eternal City in the heart of the UK. THE LONDON PROJECT Osteria Romana is managed by an all-Italian team, from the kitchen to the front house, thus guaranteeing an immersive and authentic experience. The menu is fully traditional, all the recipes are the result of a deep study of Roman dishes and menus from the typical osterias of the tiny allies of the capital. The owners also founded restaurants Osteria Napoletana in Notting Hill and Santo Mare in Marylebone. The first one is somehow a prosecution of Osteria Romana, as it shares the same research of traditional products, recipes and atmosphere but moving the spotlight on Neapolitan typical cuisine. Santo Mare, instead, is their latest opening, dating April 2019, with a focus on most of the Italian and Mediterranean traditions for seafood. The aim is to celebrate raw materials, fresh fish and seafood coming daily from their fishing boats in the Tyrrhenian Sea, served onto their tables with the most traditional and simple recipes collected from the Italian seafood cuisine. OVERSEAS AND THE FUTURE Two more restaurants are part of the group. If you are in Italy, you might be visiting the pan-Asian restaurant Kowa in Milan, where Asian cuisines at their finest meet and melt; while in Miami Beach, Florida, Forte Dei Marmi is a very successful fine dining offering dishes and recipes from all over Italy in a classy and refined atmosphere. Given the huge amount of research and study put into work, the owners are planning to expand their idea of the regional Osterias, following the path of Osteria Romana and Osteria Napoletana, to more areas throughout London. The aim is to share Italian ancient and wide tradition for food, always respecting authentic Italian products, the chef’s heritage and somehow educating the international public to Italian tastes and dining culture. · Osteria Romana 3-4 Park Cl London SW1X 7PQ www.osteriaromana.co.uk Osteria Napoletana 186 Kensington Park Road London W11 2ES www.osterianapoletana.co.uk Santo Mare 87-89 George Street London W1U 8AQ www.santomare.com
