FROM THE CHAMBERS | 25 www.italchamind.eu and food sectors that deserve to be told in more detail and therefore we have created a convenient and downloadable brochure offering a pathway round the most prized, artistic, cultural and beautiful locations of Taranto. Visitors can experience the clear blue sea, the celebrated gastronomy, the famous musical heritage, a land of tradition and hospitality all within a refined resort, not forgetting the tour operators that allow various guided experiences. One of our associates, the Magna Grecia Orchestra intensified their digital activities, website and social media presence, implementing video conferences with directors both professional and personal, direct lines with important stakeholders, authorities and representatives of the institutions and Confindustria. During the lockdown, the Orchestra organised virtual music events, which were promoted on their social media to engage their audience, such as “Pubblico 2.0 #tisuoniAMOvicino”, exclusive performances for their members, “QuizMania” events that awarded discount vouchers, “IntervisteDoppie” to musicians and finally the launch of the #iorestoacasa (“stay home”) campaign with the participation of the most famous artists in Taranto to raise awareness over the measures to tackle Covid-19. Among several activities for the youngster, the youth Orchestra “Magna Grecia - Città di Taranto” organised the wonderful project “Luis Bacalov”, a composition contest to celebrate the 700 years since the death of Dante Alighieri on the so-called Dantedì, the national day dedicated to the poet. Events and concerts can be booked by downloading the QR-code. FOOD BUSINESSES Another of our businesses, “Pasticceria Nilde Store”, a local bakery and sweet producer, optimised their sales process and customer care by using dedicated platforms and software, as their website has been transformed into an e-commerce platform for international sales. The unexpected arrival of Covid-19 accelerated the digitalisation of operational procedures and communication within companies. The first solution adopted was, of course, smart-working. There was the necessity to continue supporting clients from a distance, managing orders online, and to optmise the communication with other businesses via video calls. Nilde developed its own application to purchase products online and have them delivered at home. Innovation has become indispensable in developing new businesses in order to be prepared to sell important products of the sector, such as their artisan panettoni. L’Acropoli di Puglia, another important business and historical extra virgin olive oil producer, established in 1889, which has been international now for many years, has also implemented smart-working. The substantial “door to door” sale of products, shipping directly to the clients in various parts of the world, was made possible after updating the website and amplifying the e-commerce platform that was already available at www.lacropolidipuglia.it . They also produced a video with interviews with the various components of the Lucarella family from four generations of producers, to tell the customers about their experiences as an olive oil producing family in Puglia with strong links to the tradition of a 4.0 vision of business. There is also a company presentation video with a three-dimensional tour of the oil production process, an up to date addition to their traditional project. Further to this, there are online updates, a blog, online tasting courses and the e-commerce platform, all of which have been the driving points of a modern yet traditional family business. Creativity and simplicity have strengthened the existing excellent entrepreneurial minds in Taranto. In times of difficulty they have been able to look way ahead, combining tradition with innovation and technology.
