The ceremony took place during the Scottish Italian Awards Gala Final, an annual event organised every year by Paramount Creative UK with the support of the Italian Chamber of Commerce (of whom it is member), aimed at celebrating the excellent work of Italian businesses in Scotland. Mr. Simonelli’s business adventure in Scotland started with Osvaldo Franchi, who at the time was Honorary Consul in Glasgow, with whom he organised various events for the London Italian Club in Scotland. After being appointed President of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in 1996, Mr. Simonelli decided to open a branch in Scotland, guaranteeing the first official point of contact for businesses that were interested in the Scottish and Italian markets. More recently, his efforts focused on reconstituting the twinning between Edinburgh and Firenze and Glasgow and Torino signing Memorandums of Understanding on behalf of the ICCIUK. In June 2019, he stepped down as President but continues to contribute as President Emeritus, remaining in charge of the Scottish Branch which he holds so dear to him. · Photography: © Italian Awards
