PARTNERSHIP | Summer 2019 22 Technogym, the wellness company Interview with Nerio Alessandri, founder and President of Technogym T echnogym, an Italian manufacturing company, is known all over the world for its pioneering work in the fitness sector and for the continuous research for innovation, which is the key of its success. The company headquarter, the Technogym Village, entirely represents the founder’s “Wellness Lifestyle” philosophy. In fact, the mission of the firm is to create an environment where people can improve their quality of life by exercising and eating correctly. Following this vision, Mr Alessandri created the first wellness campus in the world in his hometown Cesena, a small city in the Emilia-Romagna region. The 170,000 sqm village hosts a university, a science centre, a research and development department, a factory, a restaurant, a wellness centre, a store, a showroom and a garden. Now you can see why they named it Technogym Village! ​ The Science Centre is one of the most important areas in the campus where scientists, after analysing medical, physiological and biomedical data, create training programmes and develop technological solutions for the consumers. Furthermore, the Research and Development department in collaboration with the Design centre creates the perfect and most innovative equipment for its clients. The ideas for new original projects and products are elaborated in the Wellness Institute where experts from different backgrounds come together. Mr Alessandri was interviewed by the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the UK to talk about the building of this fitness empire and future missions.
