Event: Making energy transition a reality: Italy-UK collaborations towards Net-Zero

The event was held in a hybrid format, it was possible to attend the conference in presence or via Zoom.

The ICCIUK was delighted to hold in Manchester an unmissable conference on “Making energy transition a reality: Italy-UK collaborations towards Net-Zero”. The event was organised in partnership with the Chamber’s member ASACERT and in collaboration with several Italian and British institutions including the Consulate of Italy in Manchester, the innovation agency of the British government Innovate UK EDGE, the Energy Innovation Agency, the Enterprise Europe Network, the Italian Trade Agency, the Department of International Trade, the Sustainable Materials Innovation Hub of the University of Manchester and several Italian and British universities, with an audience mostly composed by British and Italian companies, academics, national and international institutions.
The conference was moderated by Dr Giulia Sirigu as Head of the Northwest of ICCIUK and Scale Up Director and Senior Innovation and Growth Specialist of Innovate UK EDGE, with the following speakers:
Matteo Corradini, Consul of Italy in Manchester, who started analysing data regarding Italy and initiatives on Net-Zero for the energy transition;
Fabrizio Capaccioli, CEO of ASACERT and Vice-President of Green Building Italia, who introduced Green Building Italia, its mission and the initiatives for a Net-Zero transition;
Dhimitris Nacollari, Sustainable Policy Manager of ASACERT, who explored ASACERT’s actions for a sustainable growth;
Maria Gonzalez, Principal of International Relations at Greater Manchester Combined Authority, with a focus on international processes and relations between the Great Manchester Combined Authority and Italy with mention of GMCA’s objectives and strategies for Net-Zero;
Daniel Dickinson, Development Lead at Energy Innovation Agency,who introduced the goals for energy transition and plans for Greater Manchester in terms of Net Zero, new opportunities for companies and the activities of the Energy Innovation Agency;
Tiffany Solander, International Trade Adviser and Clean Energy Specialist for the Northern Powerhouse at the Department for International Trade, who provided more information regarding the energy support and presented the successful case studies among the Northern Powerhouse companies that internationally work in the Renewable Energy;
Anna Colucci, ENI Operations Manager, who analysed the important work that ENI carries out as leader of the Hynet project which aims to capture carbon dioxide and reduce company emissions. Anna introduced the result obtained so far and possible developments for the future.
The conference was concluded by Dr Giulia Sirigu who presented the services of the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the United Kingdom.
The conference took place within a whole day dedicated to the Energy Transition, Renewable Energy and Innovative Technologies organised in partnership with Innovate UK EDGE and the Enterprise Europe Network. During the second part of the event, companies had the opportunity to learn about innovation, marketing and the support for internationalisation provided by Innovate UK EDGE. In addition, companies had the opportunity to organise multiple “one-to-one” meetings, both online and in person, in order to explore new business opportunities and boost their business. Among the companies that joined the event in Manchester were also Italian companies such as ASACERT, A2A and ENI.
